Death* | 19 November 1942 | Crombie private hospital, Forbes, NSW, Australia; Mr. George Bass As briefly reported in our last issue, Mr. George Bass, aged 51, a Grawlin Plains farmer, passed away in Crombie private hospital on Thursday night after an illness of about a week. The deceased had resided in the district practically all his life and was held in the very highest respect. He was a wonderful sportsman, and was an active member of the Grawlin cricket and tennis clubs. He was also a member of the Agricultural Bureau at that centre, and a brother of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows. Deceased married a Miss McConnell, and in addition to his widow, leaves two children—a boy and a girl. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon to the Church of England portion of the local cemetery. Rev. A. E. White performing the last sad rites at the graveside. Mr. A. G. Jones directed the mortuary arrangements.3 |
