OBITUARY.
MR HENRY WILLIAMS.
An old resident of Mount Gambier, in the person of Mr. Henry Williams, died in Sydney on December 24. Mr. Williams, who was a brother of the late Mr. Thomas Williams, of Moorak, and Mr. William Williams, of Mount Gambier, was born at Swansea, in Wales, about seventy-seven years ago, and came to Australia as a lad in 1852 with his parents, who settled in Mount Barker, and there he resided for several years. He came to Mount Gambier about sixty years ago, and worked at various occupations, including blacksmithing and butchering. In the latter business he was for a time a partner of the late Mr. John Tyler. He then took on hawking, in this district and in the Western District of Victoria, eventually settling down as a blacksmith in Serviceton. While there he invented a patent steel plough share, and then left for Melbourne, where he started manufacturing the shares on a large scale, the business growing and prospering as the years rolled on. His wife, who predeceased him about six or seven years ago, was a sister of Mr. Fred Hammer, of Mount Gambier. He leaves one son, who still carries on the business.7
