MR. J. E. PAYNE
Mr. James Edward Payne, an esteemed district resident, died in Nepean District Hospital on August 31, at the age of 75 years. He resided at York Road, Jamisontown.
Mr. Payne took ill on the previous Friday and went into hospital that day. He was born in Penrith, the son of James and Sarah Payne, and resided here practically all his life.
He worked as a railway fettler and retired some years ago.
He was married in Penrith to Amy Brownlow, who survives him.
There are four daughters, two sons—Flo (Mrs. Jessup, Jamisontown), Eric k (Penrith), Fred (Penrith), Stella (Mrs. R. Smith, Penrith), Rita (Mrs. G. Roberts, Penrith) and Betty (Mrs. D. Scott, Turramurra). He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Pullman, of Penrith, and brother, Mr. H. Payne, of Sydney.
The funeral took place on Thursday, September 1, when a service was conducted at the Funeral Home of John Price and Son, Station Street, Penrith, by the Rector, Rev. A. E, Hodgson, who afterward also officiated at the graveside in the Methodist porition of Penrith general cemetery.;Principal=James Edward Payne3
