WEDDING
Collits — Higgins
A wedding of local interest, which took place at St. Johns Church of England last Saturday, was that of Leila, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Higgins, of Forbes, to Arthur, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Collits, of Forbes.
Chantilly lace and satin were combined to make the brides' gown, which featured a lace train falling over a full satin skirt. Her full length tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms and her bouquet was of white stocks and hyacinths.
Identical frocks of peach-rose nylon lace and nylon marquisette combined to make the frocks of the bridesmaids, Misses Jean Higgins and Mary Johnson. They featured fully flared skirts with miniature trains of lace. The 'maids wore mittens of lace, lace and floral curvettes, and each carried a bouquet of pink carnations and pink and blue hyacinths.
Canon A. E. White officiated at the ceremony, while the duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Messrs. Bob. Higgins and Bill Dunford.
At the reception, which was held at the C.W.A. Rest Rooms. The bride's mother wore a frock of junior navy crepe to which was pinned a spray of sweet peas and hyacinth. Mrs. Higgins was assisted in receiving the guests by the 'groom's sister, Mrs. Johnson, who wore a green frock and a pink edge-to-edge coat; and carried a spray of hyacinth and sweet peas.
When the couple left by train for their honeymoon, the bride wore a frock of dusty pink wool to which she added navy accessories.
