Mr John Buckley, an old identity of Lambton, died at his residence, Durham-road, on Wednesday. He was in his 79th year and was born in Parramatta. He had lived in Lambton for over 50 years. In his younger days he was regarded as a good cricketer and up to within a few weeks of his death, was an enthusiastic follower of the game. He was also one of the oldest members of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows, Waratah Lodge. He leaves one son and two daughters. His wife predeceased him 44 years. The funeral took place yesterday, the interment being in the Church of England Cemetery, Sandgate, the Rev M

DEATH SENTENCE.
BUCKLEY FOUND GUILTY.
George Andrew Buckley, 53, railway labourer, who was charged before, Mr. Justice Gordon, in the Central Criminal Court Sydney, with having murdered his wife, Mary Buckley, at Newcastle, on April 17, was found guilty with a recommendation to mercy on account of the provocation he had received.
Sentence of death was passed.5
