Death of Father | 15 November 1922 | Durham Road, Lambton, NSW, Australia; Mr John Buckley, an old identity of Lambton, died at his residence, Durham-road, on Wednesday. He was in his 79th year and was born in Parramatta. He had lived in Lambton for over 50 years. In his younger days he was regarded as a good cricketer and up to within a few weeks of his death, was an enthusiastic follower of the game. He was also one of the oldest members of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows, Waratah Lodge. He leaves one son and two daughters. His wife predeceased him 44 years. The funeral took place yesterday, the interment being in the Church of England Cemetery, Sandgate, the Rev M Garbett officiating. Obituary* | 12 July 1943 | "The Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners' Advocate", Maitland, NSW, Australia; OBITUARY MRS ELLEN AGNES JOHNSON. Mrs Ellen Agnes Johnson, who died at her residence, Wyee-road Lambton, after a short illness, had been a well-known resident for about 60 years. She was born at West Maitland 71 years ago. With the exception of a few years at West Wallsend, she had lived practically all the time in the same street at Lambton. She was an active worker on relief committees and exhibited a keen interest in the work of the Roman Catholic Church. Her husband was killed in the West Wallsend colliery about 28 years ago. Following a short service in St John's Catholic Church, conducted by Rev Father Marshall, who also officiated at the graveside, the funeral left for Sandgate Cemetery. Mrs Johnson is survived by five sons and three daughters. Mrs Barry, Mrs Martin and Mrs. O'Donnell, 15 grandchildren and three great grand- children.5 |
