(Beneficiary) Will | 10 February 1870 | Penzance, Madron, Cornwall; This is the last Will and Testament of me John Bassett of Penzance in the County of Cornwall a Boot and Shoemaker made this tenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and seventy. I direct that my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses be paid out of my personal estate by my Executrixes hereinafter named I Give and bequeath to my sister in law Sarah Jackson an annuity of Ten pounds and eight shillings in weekly sums of four shillings during her life the first payment thereof to be made one week next after my decease all my real and the residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever I Give and devise to my dear wife Catherine and her Assigns during her life and from and after her decease then I Give devise and bequeath as follows (that is to say) to my son William Nicholas Bassett all that my leasehold dwellinghouse with its appurtenances situate and being No. 26 in Camborne street in Penzance aforesaid occupied by John Uren To hold to my said son William Nicholas Bassett his executors administrators and assigns absolutely for all my term estate and interest therein after the death of my said wife subject to the payment of a moiety of the rent and other payments reserved in and by the Lease thereof I Give and bequeath to Eliza Bassett wife of my son Henry Bassett all that my other leasehold Dwellinghouse with its appurtenances being No 27 in Camborne Street aforesaid occupied by Pascoe Tonkin and all my estate and interest therein after the death of my said Wife Upon Trust for my Grandson John Bassett (son of my said son Henry) until he shall attain the age of twenty one years and on his attaining that age then I Give and bequeath the same leasehold Dwellinghouses and appurtenances to my said Grandson John Bassett absolutely but subject to a moiety of the rent and other payments reserved and payable by virtue of the Lease of the aforesaid two Dwellinghouses, but if my said Grandson John Bassett shall die under the age of twenty one years then I Give and bequeath the same leasehold dwellinghouse No 27 and its appurtenances to the said Eliza Bassett absolutely subject as aforesaid all those my freehold messuages or Dwellinghouses and hereditaments and all and singular other my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever of every kind and description (after the death of my said Wife) I Give devise and bequeath to my two daughters Catherine and Ellen Charlotte in equal shares during their joint lives and the life of the Survivor of them her heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively absolutely without being subject to the liabilities debts or controul of any Husband or Husbands with whom they or either of them may intermarry but subject to the aforesaid Annuity to the said Sarah Jackson and to the payment of Five pounds to defray the funeral expenses of the said Sarah Jackson and I direct my said daughters to pay such sum of Five pounds accordingly I devise and bequeath all freehold and leasehold hereditaments vested in me as Mortgagee or Trustee to my said daughters Catherine Basset and Catherine Ellen Bassett their heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively according to the nature of the property upon the several Trusts on which I hold the same Lastly I appoint the said Catherine Bassett and Ellen Charlotte Bassett Executrixes of this my Will. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year first above written.
