Extraordinary Tragedy near Condobolin.
CONDOBOLIN, Aug. 12.
An extraordinary tragedy is reported from Derrawong, about 20 miles from here. A mannamed Gimblett and his wife hanged themselves on Saturday morning. It appears that early on Saturday morning the husband went to his father-in-law's place, two miles distant. A sister of the deceased woman some two or three, hours later went to Gimblett's house and found Mrs. Gimblett hanging to a beam by a greenhide rope. The sister returned and sent
her father and Gimblett back, and the body of the woman was cut down. Bassett (the father-in-law) and Gimblett remained with the dead body till 4 in the afternoon, and then Bassett proceeded to a neighbour's to give information to the police. Upon the return of Bassett and the neighbour, a Mr. Parsons, Gimblett was found hanging to the same rope that his wife had used, with his hands strapped together behind him. A magisterial inquiry was held to-day, but no fresh light was thrown on the tragedy. The husband was 22 and his wife 18. There is a child 4 months old, which was at its grandmother's.;Principal=John D Gimblett6
