Death* | 1 March 1947 | Lithgow District Hospital, Lithgow, NSW, Australia; LITHGOW DEATH MR. P. FIELD Mr. Pierce Field, of Hay-street, Oakey Park, died In the Lithgow district hospital on Saturday night at the age of 84 years. Mr. Field had been an inmate of the institution for a month prior to his death. Born at Hartley Vale, Mr. Field was a resident of Lithgow and district for most of his life, being very highly respected by his numerous friends. He was a good type of citizen and was a very keen sportsman. As a youth he was very interested in cricket and later represented this district against the Englishmen. As a member of the Pride of the Valley cricket club, he won a silver cup for the best batting average in the team. He was also a well known footrunner and jockey. Mr. Field was for many years employed by the Vale of Clwydd colliery as a deputy. He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. P. Jones (Denistone), and Mrs. V. Payne (Oakey Park), and three sons, Messrs. Percival (Rozelle), Ernest (Taree) and Edward (Lithgow), to whom will be extend ed deepest sympathy. His wife predeceased him two years ago. The funeral was set down. for this afternoon, Messrs. Matthews and Lemon being in charge of arrangements.5 |
