The show carnival commenced here on Wednesday with acricket match, played between town and country teams. Thetown team had the advantage of having on their side Mr.Percy McDonnell, the well-known Australian cricketer. A large amount of interest was displayed in the match. In thefirst innings Mr. McDonnell scored 112 runs before beingbowled by W. Bassett; the other members of the town team made up 100 runs. The countrv team made 45 in their first innings and 49 in their second innings — total, 94;thus being beaten by one innings and 118 runs.6 |
