Death of Father | 23 September 1896 | Millthorpe, NSW, Australia; Millthorpe, Monday. Mr. Joshua Whiley, sen., an old and respected resident, expired on Thursday afternoon, at the ripe age of 73 years, from paralysis. The deceased gentleman was a farmer and a native of Licolnshire [sic], and arrived in the colony 34 years ago. He took a deep interest in stock breeding, in fact he brought with him from the old country a draught stallion, whose progeny figured prominently here as prize takers. The deceased gentleman leaves a grown up family of five sons and two daughters. The funeral, which was conducted by Mr. R. C. Miller, of Millthorpe, took place on Friday afternoon, and was largely attended, the Rev. F. Colwell officiating.;Principal=Joshua Whiley4 |

News-Arct* | 20 July 1922 | "The Western Champion", Parkes, NSW, Australia; The death occurred of an old and very highly esteemed ex-resident of the Molong district, in the person of Mr. Jonathan Whiley, "Inglewood," Highway Avenue. Croydon, on Thursday, July 6th, after a very brief illness. He was one of the pioneer farmers at Grega. where he selected land upwards of 50 years ago. Ten years ago he retired, and proceeded to Croydon with his wife to spend his declining years.6 |
