News-Arct* | 4 April 1945 | "The Macleay Chronicle", Kempsey, NSW, Australia; Mrs. Ada Maud Brewer. Mrs. Ada Maud Brewer, whose death took place at her home, 44 Clarence Street, Grafton, on the morning of March 20, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Tuckey, and was born at Coolamon 64 years ago. At an early age she came with her parents to live at Halfway Creek, where she remained until her marriage with Alfred Ernest Brewer, who was at that time a school teacher in the district. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Brewer held appointments at Stockyard Creek, Dalmorton, Aldavilla (Macleay River) and Nashua. From the latter place Mr. Brewer retired from the Department, and with his wife and family took up farming at Corndale, and subsequently at Rappville, where they remained until about eight years ago when, because of the illhealth of Mrs. Brewer, they came to live in Grafton. Mrs. Brewer was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, and during her residence at Rappville her home was regularly used for church services. The last few years of her life were practically confined to her home where, with increasing illhealth, she received the devoted attention of her husband and daughters. Mrs. Brewer is survived by her husband, three sons, Ernest, Wilfred and Eric (Rappville); four daughters, Mrs. V. Heatherwood (Warren), Mrs. G. Boyle (Tamworth) and Misses Wanda and Mavis (Grafton); two brothers, Percy (Woolgoolga) and Alfred (Halfway Creek), and one sister, Mrs. C. McKeen (Copmanhurst.) The funeral left for the South Grafton cemetery after a service in the Grafton Methodist Church, commencing at 2.30 p.m. on March 21. The Rev. A. J. Bingley, assisted by Rev. Wilbur Cook, conducted the services at the church and at the graveside. — ("Daily Examiner.")4 |
