A Sad Affair.
Quite a sensation was caused in Trundle on Tuesday, when the news spread that Mr. Llewellyn Simmons, a highly respected selector of the district, had succumbed to a shot wound. On Tuesday evening Senior-Constable Ranford, of Parkes, received a wire to the effect that Simmons had shot himself fatally. An inquiry held on Wednesday failed to show whether the shooting had been accidental or otherwise. Deceased, who was a middle-aged man, leaves a wife and a couple of children.1

(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Death.— The news of the death of Mr. Llewellyn Simmons, a highly respected resident of the district, has cast quite a gloom over the district. Mr. Simmons met his death from the effects of a rifle wound supposed to have been accidently inflicted at his residence, Grassdale, near Trundle. At the time of the sad occurrence there was no one present, save his wife, and a feeble old man in his employ who succeeded in apprising the adjoining neighbours of the unfortunate fatality. Death was instantaneous; the bullet having struck in a fatal direction. On Thursday morning the deceased was interred in the Church of England, portion of the Trundle cemetery, where a large number of sympathetic friends and relations followed his remains to their last resting place in God's acre. The deceased, who was 31 years of age, leaves a wife and two children, and also a large home circle for whom deep sympathy is expressed.4
