OBITUARY
Mr. Lester Robinson
Sincere regret was expressed among all sections of the community yesterday when it was learned that Mr. Lester Lindsay Robinson had passed away at his home about 8.30 o'clock that morning. Some time ago the deceased had suffered a paralytic stroke and his condition of health since had been precarious.
Deceased, who was 54 years of age, was a native of Condobolin, but he did not come to the Forbes district till 14 years ago, when he joined the firm of John Meagher & Co. as an ironmonger. He was a nephew of Mr. W. A. Robinson, of Grenfell, and started his trade with him. After that he spent seven years with Mr. J. Thom at Temora, where he was married. Then he went to Narrandera, and was for seven years with the firm of Richards & Co. before coming to Forbes. While at Temora he played football in the famous Maher Cup competition, and after coming here he was associated with the control board dining the paid player era. He also played considerable hockey here and gave many dashing displays in pre-war days. At the time of his death he was a director of Forbes District Hospital, and was universally esteemed.
In addition to his widow he is survived by three daughters— Mary, Eileen and Patricia, all of Forbes. He also leaves two brothers— William (Forbes) and Gordon (Sydney)— while his five sisters all reside in Sydney. His father died 15 years ago, but his mother resides at Ashfield and is expected to arrive in Forbes this morning.
The funeral to the Catholic portion of the local cemetery at 3.30 o'clock this afternoon will leave St. Lawrence's Church.
Mr. A. G. Jones will direct the obsequies.2,7
