Obituary
EARNEST A. ROBINSON
After five long years of suffering and practically an invalid for the whole of that time, death, on Friday morning last claimed Mr. E. A. Robinson of this town. About five years ago the deceased had a stroke, which caused hemorrhage of the brain, since then he had been a constant sufferer from a recurrence of the malady at frequent intervals.
He was nursed continuously by his wife and family, and on Monday of last week hemorrhage again set in and despite all that medical and nursing skill could do, it was realised that life was slowly, ebbing away.
Deceased was born in New Zealand in 1867, and came to Condobolin fifty-seven years ago with his parents, who have both predeceased him. Mrs. Maitland (Condobolin) and Mrs. Bollinger (Manly) are sisters, whilst Mr. Oscar Robinson (Condobolin) and Mr. W. A. Robinson (Grenfell) are brothers.
Deceased was very fond of outdoor sport and for years was recognised as one of the best wicket keepers in the West as well as being a champion field and pigeon shot and a great horseman. it seems but a few years since Ernie Robinson, as he was well and favorably known, was one of the finest sportsmen in the country. He loved the bush life and all that is so dear to the hearts of men who find peace and contentment inhaling the breath of life in the great open spaces of the West. Few sportsmen of ten years back have not enjoyed his company shooting and fishing, and members of a party seeing him shoot for the first time would marvel at his increditable accuracy with the gun. He was a lover of flowers, a great gardener, and typical big-hearted sport that won the love and respect of all with whom he associated.
The funeral, considering the inclemency of the weather on Friday after noon, was well attended by many relatives and friends. The burial taking place in the Church of England portion of the local cemetary. The Venerable Archdeacon Neild officiated at the graveside.
A devoted wife, five daughters and four sons are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.5
