OBITUARY
Mr. F. J. Newell
The death of a highly respected Forbes resident in the person of Mr. Frederick John Newell, took place at his home in the Bareenong portion of the district on Tuesday morning, after an illness which had extended over some time. Within recent weeks he had been an inmate of Forbes District and Crombie private hospitals, but the urge to end his days at his home caused him to leave the latter institution a fortnight ago.
The deceased, who was born in South Australia, was 71 years of age, and had been a resident of the Forbes district, where he carried on farming pursuits, for over 40 years. In his younger days he was an enthusiastic member of the Forbes branch of the F. & S. Association and was connected with the Show Society, being a noted exhibitor in cattle, particularly the dairy breeds.
The deceased leaves a sorrowing widow and family of four sons and one daughter. The latter is Mrs. Gordon Peitsch, of Tullamore, while the sons are Messrs. Frederick, Henry, Ernest and Clarence William Newell, all of this district.
The funeral on Wednesday afternoon was very largely attended, and was preceded by a short service at the Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. M. J. Georg, who also officiated at the graveside.
Mr. A. G. Jones had chargeof the burial arrangements.4
