Death*11 January 1941 Lithgow Hospital, Lithgow, NSW, Australia;
Late Mr. Walter Morris
The death occurred at Lithgow hospital on Saturday morning of Mr. Walter Morris, of Inch-street. Mr. Morris, who was 74 years of age, had been in indifferent health for the past three months, for seven weeks of which he was an inmate of the hospital.
The late Mr. Morris was born at Hartley and lived in this district all his life, with the exception of a few years which were spent in Queensland. At his retirement he was a fireman at the Zigzag colliery.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Eric, Victor, Leslie, Walter, Kenneth and Harold, all of Lithgow; and two daughters, Mesdamcs A. H. Brett. Calero-street and Muriel McGarrity, Lakemba.
The deceased was, of course, well-known in the town and held the respect of all: His death will be sincerely regretted.
The funeral took place yesterday, the cortege moving from the residence of Mr. Eric Morris, McKellar's Paddock, for the Church of England portion, of the Bowenfels cemetery.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. Eric, Victor, Leslie, Walter, Kenneth and Harold Morris (sons). The Rev. C. H. Hammond officiated at the graveside. The floral tributes were numerous and included wreaths of the permanent type from the family, and the Lithgow Co-operative Society Bakery employees.
Mr. E. McMurtrie had charge of the funeral arrangements.5
