Mr. George Morris
The body of Mr. George Morris (64), a well-known resident was found by a companion at his home at Oakey Park on Saturday morning. Death was due to natural causes. The deceased was a fireman employed by the Terry Brewing Company at Oakey Park.
The deceased worked until 3 p.m. on Thursday, but did not go to work
on the Friday.
Born at Hartley Vale the late. Mr. Morris resided there for many years. As a fireman he was at various periods employed at Hartley Vale, Oakey Park Colliery and finally at the Brewery. He was a very keen horseman and in his younger days was a jockey at country meetings.
He is survived by three sons —Messrs. George, Spring-street, Lithgow; Herb, New-road, and Ewie, Dapto. There are also five daughters—Mesdames W. Francis, Dapto; P. White, Dapto; A. Ridderford, Dapto; H. Brazil, Hill-street, Lithgow and N. Clark, Darlington.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon moving from the parlors of Messrs. Matthews and Lemon for the Church of England portion of the Bowenfels cemetery where interment was made beside the remains of a deceased son. The Rev. A. E. S. Begbie officiated at the graveside. Pallbearers were Messrs. Harley Brazil (son-in-law), A. Allen H. Allen, V. Murkins (friends).4
