News-Arct* | 7 September 1933 | "The Gilgandra Weekly and Castlereagh", NSW, Australia; SUDDEN DEATH AT WEST COONAMBLE Brother Finds Brother. Returning from town at about 4 p.m. on Friday Mr. J. C. Morris was amazed to find his brother, Mr. Alfred Morris, dead near the door of his residence, at West Coonamble. It is possible that deceased had expired from heart, trouble an hour before. The Late Mr. Morris was a native Of Bowenfels, N.S.W., and had attained the age of 74 years. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Morris, of Bowenfels, and was very widely known and generally respected in the Coonamble district, where, for many years, he followed droving. Relinquishing those duties some years ago, deceased, settled down in West Coonamble and was in receipt of the old age pension. He was always recognised as a quiet, in offensive man, noted, in his early days, for his care of stock committed to his charge. For a number of years he suffered from rupture. His wife predeceased him in Coonamble about 40 years ago, death ensuing in premises off Tooloon St., opposite the Council Chambers. He is survived by three daughters, viz., Mrs. Pyne (Gilgandra), Mrs. G. Loneham (Bondi). His only surviving brother is John Clarence Morris (Coonamble), and sister, Mrs. J. Field, (Hartley).6 |
