Obituary.
The grim reaper has once again made his presence felt in our midst, and to his summons another old resident in the person of Mrs. Sarah Jane Loftus, bade farewell to things material at 2.30 o'clock on Wednesday morning. The deceased, who succumbed to an attack of pneumonia, was 50 years of age, born on the Lachlan, and had resided for many years with her family on Borambil. The remains of deceased were interred in the Church of England portion of the local cemetery on Thursday. We might add that the deceased is mother of Mrs J. Wilcox, whose husband also died from pneumonia since Christmas.;Principal=Sarah Jane Strickland4

DEATH OF MR. W. A. LOFTUS
It is with regret that we record the death of Mr. William A. Loftus, which took place about 8 o'clock on Sunday morning. Several weeks ago he was treated in the local hospital, gastritis, we believe, being then his main trouble. He returned, much improved, to his home, at Back Merriwee. where he had for many years resided with his son James. He, however, appeared to lose heart, and, though fairly well up to Thursday night, he quickly sank under the strain of the final attack, passing away very peace fully. Deceased, who was 71 years of age, was one of the oldest residents of the district; in fact, if not a native of the district, was known to he here when a boy of 9 years old. He once owned Urah station, besides other properties in the district. Regarding his character, there is but the one unanimous verdict—that no straighter man ever stood in Australia. He was interred in the Church of England portion of the local cemetery, many old friends having journeyed long distances to pay the last tribute of respect. A grown up family of 5 sons and several daughters are left to mourn his loss. To these and other bereaved ones we extend our sincere sympathy.;Principal=William Alfred Loftus5
