Obituary12 July 1945 "The Nepean Times", Penrith, NSW, Australia;
Death of Miss Lennox
Miss Vida Mary Lennox, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Lennox, died at her residence, High St., Penrith, on Monday. This very estimable lady usually enjoyed good health, and retained all her energy till about six months ago, when her health started to fail, till peacefully she passed to her rest.
Miss Lennox was born at Lambridge and was a member of a family that was essentially part of the district community, her paternal and maternal grandparents being pioneers here. Her mother was of the Stanton family, Castlereagh.
In her younger days Vida Lennox was, with her late sister, Katie, one of Penrith's leading lady tennis players.
Her life was largely devoted to charitable causes, and was one of self-sacrifice. She was associated for many years with her sister Miss Edith
Lennox, B.A. (principal), in the conduct of St. Stephen's Day School, and played a wonderful part in the training of children in Sunday School and secular education.
Miss Lennox leaves three brothers and two sisters, viz.: William (Beecroft), Cecil (Sydney), Frank (Melbourne), Florence (Mrs J. J. Price, Newcastle), and Edith (Penrith).
The funeral took place on Tuesday, when there was a representative gathering in St. Stephen's Church, conducted by the Rector, Rev. R. S. Chapple. The surpliced choir was in attendance, and the organist was Mr E. W. Orth.
The Rector, in an appreciative address, spoke of the life of devotion and self-sacrifice of the deceased lady, and of the influence she had in moulding the lives of the younger generation.
The interment took place in the family enclosure in St. Stephen's Cemetery.4
