Obituary* | 12 October 1937 | "The Forbes Advocate", Forbes, NSW, Australia; OBITUARY Mrs. Ada Charlotte Morris Forbes lost one of its oldest and best known residents on Thursday, when there passed away, in the District Hospital, Mrs. Ada Charlotte Morris, relict of the late William Morris, who predeceased his wife by about five years. The late Mrs. Morris was a native of the Forbes district, being a daughter of the late John Field. She was in her 79th year, and was married at Hartley just on 60 years ago. The family came to Forbes about 53 years ago, since which time Mrs. Morris had lived continuously in Forbes. For upwards of 40 years she followed the profession of a nurse, and during that time had cared for thousands of the town's residents. About two years ago, when she became affected with sugar diabetes, she was compelled to retire. She remained in fairly good health till about three weeks ago, when she suffered a paralytic stroke, but it was only on Tuesday last that she was removed to hospital. Many will mourn her passing. Deceased reared a family of nine sons and three daughters, of whom six sons and two daughter survive. The sons are Messrs. Hilton, Raymond ("James"), Ernest, Thomas (Forbes), Melbourne ("Ginty"), of Duri, and William (Willoughby), while the daughters arc Mrs. E. J. Hackett (Forbes) and Mrs. W. Fraser (South Woodburn). The funeral on Saturday afternoon was well attended, and was to the Church of England portion of the local cemetery, Rev. H. Pitcher performing the last sad rites at the graveside, while Mr. A. G. Jones directed the burial arrangements.7 |
