WEDDING
HUTCHIS0N—BASSETT
A beautiful gown of magnolia satin was chosen by Miss Norma Bassett, only daughter of Mr and Mrs. N. L. Bassett, of "Rosedale," Fairholme, for her marriage to Edward Hutchison, second son of Mrs. A. Hutchison, of Clovelly.
The ceremony took place at 4 p.m. on 17th August at St. Judes Church, Randwick.
The bridal gown had a full skirt with long train; a gathered front, sweetheart neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her full length pale blue tulle veil was beautifully hand embroidered, and held by a coronet of orange blossoms. White hyacinths and carnations formed her lovely bouquet. Mr. N. L. Bassett gave his daughter away.
Preceding the bride down the aisle was the pretty little flower girl, Laurice McGrath cousin of the bride. She wore a pretty blue crepe frock made the same as the bride's two attendants; a coronet of flowers on her brown curls and carried a basket of roses.
Miss Gwen Tuedt, of Five Dock, and Mrs. Charles Toni, both friends of the bride, were bridesmaid and matron of honour respectively. They wore pretty blue crepe gowns, with sweetheart neckline, gathered front, short sleeves, full skirts and matching heart-shaped crowns. Their attractive bouquets were of pink carnations and blue hyacinths.
Duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Victor Vaughan, and Mr. Leslie Bassett, brother of the bride, was groomsman.
During the signing of the register, "You're Mine" was rendered.
One hundred and twenty-three guests then assembled at the Legion Hall, Claring Cross, where they were received by Mrs. Bassett. Her fawn ensemble was trimmed with brown and she wore brown accessories, natural straw hat trimmed with brown veiling and wore a shoulder spray of red roses. Mrs. Hutchison assisted Mrs. Bassett, choosing a grey ensemble with navy accessories and shoulder spray of red roses also.
Mr. P. Connolly was the chairman and the usual toasts were honoured. Some old friends came by car from Lindfield to the reception, namely Mr and Mrs. A. Shephard, Mrs. Porter, also John Shephard, a school friend of the bride's and all former residents of Condoboiin district. Mr. Bassett proposed a toast to their oldest friends, Mr. and Mrs. A. Shephard. Music was played for all the toasts. Many congratulatory telegrams were received by the bridal couple.
At the conclusion of the breakfast, Mr. Vic Bassett, cousin of the bride, sang "The Bells of St. Mary's”. After this the hall was cleared to allow of the enjoyment of dancing to a three piece orchestra. At 9 o'clock all the single girls formed a ring & the bride threw her bouquet, which was cought by Shirley Wall, who is to be a bride herself in October.
The beautifully decorated wedding cake was three-tier. Gifts received were costly and numerous and included many cheques. The gift of the bride to the groom was a signet ring; from the groom to the bride, an Opal dress ring; to the bridesmaid and matron of honour, powder compacts; to the flower girl a signet ring.
A smart powder blue frock, featuring a peplum front, and trimmed with black was chosen by the bride for travelling. Black accessories completed her outfit.
The happy couple left by car for Palm Beach for their honeymoon, and will make their future home at Clovelly.;Groom=Edward Thomas Hutchison3
