Note*7 December 1900 Condobolin, NSW, Australia;Another worthy settler of this district in the person of Mr H. Bassett of Ethervale, Derriwong, has sold out and shortly intends to seek fresh fields and pastures new. This gentleman has sold his estate of 1000 acres with improvements st 30 shillings per acre to Mr J Berryman of Narromine, who is to take possession on 1st February 1901. Mr Bassett selected this land fifteen years ago and by hard work and perseverance has despite many obstacles been able to hold his own and progress.6

OBITUARY
Mr. H. Bassett
The death occurred at his home on Sunday afternoon of a well known resident of Wagga and district, Mr. Henry Bassett, of 'Halston,' 116 Best Street, Wagga, at the age of 82 years. The late Mr. Bassetthad been living in retirement in Wagga for over 30 years and practically all his life was a well known hotelkeeper. He built the Coolamon Hotel at Cooiamon, which he conducted for many years prior to his retirement and retained the ownership of that hotel up till his death. A keen sportsman and athlete all his life, he was particularly fond of cricket and bowls, and was a member of both the Wagga Club and the South Wagga Bowling Club. For the last seven months he had been ill and confined to his bed at his home. Widely known and esteemed he made many friends in Wagga and district during his many years of residence. He married over 50 years ago, and is survived by his wife, four sons, Messrs. AvelynHenry,of Mosman; Harvey Harold, of Narandera; Reginald, of Wagga; and Lon (R.A.A.F,), at present in Queensland; one daughter, Mrs. V. G. Slattery, of Wagga; and two brothers, Messrs. Walter and Alfred Bassett,both of Sydney. The funeral took place on Tuesday. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from the directors and staff of S. Richards and Co. Ltd., Narandera.9
