Death of Mother5 January 1909 Mount Gambier, SA, Australia;OBITUARY.
Mrs. William Williams.—The death is announced in the "Watch", this morning of Mrs. Agnes Williams, wife of Mr. W. Williams, machinist, of Mount Gambier. The deceased had recently suffered severely from influenza and asthma, which, acting on an enfeebled constitution, were the immediate cause of her death, which occurred early yesterday morning. The late Mrs. Williams, whose maiden name was Hall, was born at Morbattle, Roxburghshire, Scotland, 76 years ago, and came to Australia with her friends 54 years ago. Fifty-one years ago she was married at Mount Barker to Mr. Williams, and about 43 years ago came with her husband and young family to Mount Gambier. For the whole of that time, with the exception of six years, during which Mr. Williams and family were at Casterton, the deceased lived at Mount Gambier. She leaves a family of six—four sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs. William Williams, Western Australia, Robert H. Williams, Buckland Park, Thomas Oliver Williams, Mount Gambier, and John Williams, Roseworthy College; and the daughters are Mrs. Thos. Hall, Mount Gambier, and Mrs. J. Hooper, Casterton. She leaves nearly 20 grandchildren. The funeral is announced by Mr. H. R. Jobling for this afternoon.;Principal=Agnes Hall2

Obituary.
Mr. T. O. Williams. —We have to-day the regretful duty of recording the death of Mr. Thomas Oliver Williams, son of Mr. William Williams, machinist and foundry-man of this town. Nearly two years ago, a small fish-bone got fixed at the back of deceased's tongue, and could not be easily removed. From time to time it caused irritation, but Mr. Williams thought little of it. It gradually grew worse, and seven or eight months ago he consulted a local surgeon, and the complaint was diagnosed as cancer. Mr. Williams went to Adelaide to consult Professor Watson, who performed an operation in the hope of removing the growth. It was not completely removed, however, and soon grew again, affecting the deceased's throat. Mr. Williams visited Professor Watson a second time, and another operation was performed. This retarded the progress of the malignant disease for a while, but the growth was not wholly removed, and spread with great rapidity. Nothing could be done, and Mr. Williams, with remarkable resignation and bravery, awaited the inevitable end. He died early on Sunday morning. The deceased was a native of Mount Gambier, where he was born in 1870, so that he was in his 41st year. In his early manhood he spent a few years at Casterton in a business conducted by his father. Later he spent a couple of years in Western Australia, but for the last 15 years he was assisting his father in the business at Mount Gambier. For some years he was in partnership with him, the firm bearing the name of W. Williams & Son. He leaves a widow and six young children, three sons and three daughters. The deceased was the chief promoter of the annual ploughing matches at Mount Gambier, and his sad early death will be keenly regretted by many ploughmen and farmers. Being a vigorous man he actively participated in the promotion of certain sports and in other public matters. The funeral of the deceased was held yesterday afternoon, and was very numerously attended. About 20 members of the Mount Gambier Lodge of Oddfellows, M.U., of which he was for many years a member, preceded the hearse. The last service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. G. M. Baird. Grandmaster W. S. Clarke read the Oddfellows' service. Mr. W. Pearce was funeral director.3
