In the name of god amen, I Emanuel Bassett of the parish of St Ewe, in the County of Cornwall Yeoman, being weak of body but of perfect memory, praised by god for it, doe make and ordain this to be my Last will and testament, in manner and form following, first I bequeath my soul to god who gave it, hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ to have a free pardon of all my sins, and my body I Commit to the Earth from whence it was taken there to have a decent Christian burial, according to the Direction of my Executors and Executrix which shall be herafter named.
I give unto my son Francis Bassett two shillings & sixpence
Also I give unto my son Emanuel Bassett one Brass pott a Spitt & hand irons
Also I give unto Emanuel Bassett my grand-son and my three Daughters Joan Dunston ann Knight & Elizabeth Tremelling to each of them ten shillings and six pence to be paid within one year of my decease
Also I give unto Mary Bassett my beloved wife the Bed furnished I now lyeth on likewise I give her four –pound per year which is to be Paid by the Administrators of her Brother Francis Arthur
Also I do make my Beloved son Thomas Bassett & my Beloved wife Mary Bassett joynt Executor & Executrix of this my Last will and testament and I doe hereby revoke dissannull and and make voide all former wills and testaments by me heretofore in witness here of I the said Emanuel Bassett to this my Last will & testament doe put my hand & seal this fourteenth day of June in the year of our one thousand sevenhundred & fifty
Lastly it is my desire that Thomas Bassett whom I have made joynt Executor with his mother Mary Bassett will not marry with Christian May without the Concent of his mother Mary Bassett
