Death* | 6 November 1954 | Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, NSW, Australia; Father Of Woman Champion Dies Mr. Robert Wilcox (52), former Forbes resident, whose daughter Roma was former Australian swimming champion, died in Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, on November 6, after a brief illness. Wilcox, who had lived at Parkes for some years, worked on construction of the Forbes Services' Memorial Hall, officially opened by the Governor (Lt.-Gen. Sir John Northcott) on September 9. Mr. Wilcox had been a Digger in World War II. He leaves a widow and five children, Roma, Ruth, Edith, Harold and Garry. Mrs. Jack Acret, of Forbes, is a sister of the late Mr. Wilcox. The funeral was to the Church of England cemetery at Botany.3 |
