Death*26 October 1914 Quirindi Hospital, Quirindi, NSW, Australia;
Mrs. A. M. Ryan.
At the early age of 38 years, the death took place, on October 26, of Mrs. Rose Matilda Ryfan, wife of Mr. A. M. Ryan, of Bloomfield-street, Gunnedah, at the Quirindi Hospital, after a month's severe illness. Besides a sorrowing husband, Mrs. Ryan leaves a family of five young children. Deceased was the sixth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Shailer, of Forbes. She was born at Balranel in 1876, married at Orange by the Rev. Father O'Keefe in 1S98, and came to Gunnedah with her husband and family about three years ago, and in that short time made many friends, being of a very kind, charitable and generous nature, always willing to assist, in time of sickness. During her illness the late Mrs. Ryan was visited by the Rev. Father Burchell, of Quirindi, who was with her at the last, and administered the last Sacraments. The Sisters of St. Joseph's, of Quirindi, also visited her. The body was conveyed by rail to Gunnedah and taken to her home, whence the funeral, which was largely attended, started to St. Joseph's Church, where, in the presence of a large number of friends, Rev. Father D. Keane, P.P., recited the prayers for the dead. As the funeral cortege left the church for the cemetery the “Dead March” was played by Miss Little, organist. The chief mourners at the graveside were Mr. A. M. Ryan (husband) and children, Mrs. T. Allman (sister, Paddington), Mrs. W. F. Stewart (sister, Tenterfield). Mrs. S. Dollman (Condobolin), Mrs. T. Hartland (Johannsburge, S.A.), are sisters; and Messrs. H. T. and C. Shailer. All of Sydney, are brothers. There were many beautiful wreaths and crosses from relatives and friends, including one from the Labour League; also many telegrams, letters and cards from all parts, including one from Mr. Ashford, member for the district.— R.I.P.6
