Marriage* | 2 May 1916 | "Larnook", Boolite, VIC, Australia; NEWELL—HABEL WEDDING. A wedding took place at "Larnook," Boolite, on May 2nd, between Mr. Arthur Newell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Newell, of Minyip, and Miss Sophie Habel, second daughter of Mr. H. Habel, of Warracknabeal. Rev. W. Naismith, of Warracknabeal, was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained dress of white silk, the bodice being of lace, with a coatee of silk, the whole dress being finished with pearls. She wore the customary veil and wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and real orange blossom and fern, tied with white satin streamers. The bride's sister, Miss Susie Habel, acted as bridesmaid, and wore white lace over silk. She carried a bouquet of golden brown chrysanthemums and fern, and wore the bridegroom's gift, a gold bangle. The bridegroom was supported by his nephew, Mr. Roy Parsons. The bride's travelling dress was a fawn costume, with a black panne velvet hat, and she wore the bridegroom's gift, a set of furs. Death of Father | 24 April 1930 | Minyip, VIC, Australia; The death occurred on Thursday last week of Mr. Thomas Newell of Main street, Minyip. He was 82 years and 9 months, and came to the Wimmera 57 years ago, from South Australia. He was amongst the first settlers at Dunmunkle. The members of the family, who are all settled around that district and in the Mallee, are:—William J. T. (Hopetoun), Florence C. (Mrs C. Parsons, Mellis), George A., (Warracknabeal), Rose V. (Mrs. J. Jackson, Minyip), Walter D. (Turiff), Albert (Boolite), Ellen E. (Mrs. C. O. Baker, Sheep Hills), Alfred D. (Warracknabeal), Herbert E. (Blackheath), and Arthur C. (Culgoa), There are 47 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The deceased gentleman is survived by one brother (Mr. Robt. J. Newell, Minyip), and two sisters (Mrs. Jas. Deceased, who was the mother of Messrs George and Alfred Newell, of Warracknabeal, had lived in retirement in Minyip for many years.
