MITCHELL The death occurred at Tweed District Hospital, Murwillumbah, yesterday of James Mitchell (75), of Uki, after a short illness. Besides his wife, four daughters and five sons survive. They are Mesdames W. Claphan (Irene), Kyogle. M. Crimmins (Ivy), Uki, R. Reeves (Muriel), Uki, E. Winkler (Valerie), Murwillumbah, and Messrs Lionel. James, AIF, Morotai, Cecil Herbert and Keith, Uki, Alan, Beverly Hills, Sydney, and Cpl Harold Mitchell, AIF, New Britain. One sister, Mrs Agnes Taylor, and two brothers, Alexander and Jack, predeceased him. There are 14 grandchildren. Born at Menangle, NSW, he married Miss Rosina Carter, at Byron Bav. Mr Mitchell worked for Norco as an engineer for 37 years, the latter 25 being spent at Uki. He had been 10 years in retirement. He was a keen sportsman. Apart from being a keen fisherman, he was a successful marksman. He had been a member of Lismore Rifle Club and had won many trophies. Mr Mitchell was a member of Murwillumbah branch of the GUIOOF Lodge. The funeral will move from All Saints' Church of England tomorrow at 11 a.m. for the Church of England portion of the new cemetery, Murwillumbah.4 |
