In our obituary on Monday we chronicled the death of Mr. John Martin, of North Adelaide. Mr. Martin was for several years in business as a grocer in Rundle-street, and will be well known as having taken a very lively interest in the volunteer movement two or three years since. Mr. Martin had more recently been in the employ of Messrs. Morgan & Co. as commercial traveller. We learn that Mrs. Martin and family are not left entirely unprovided for. Fortunately, Mr. Martin, just prior to his death, had insured his life for £500. We are informed that he had been induced by his employer to effect a policy in one of our Life Assurance Offices only two or three weeks preceding his decease, and the proceeds will be most acceptable to the widow and family whom he has left behind.3

Death of Mr. John Martin.—We regret to announce the death of Mr. John Martin, formerly a grocer in Rundle-street, and who at the time of his death was in the employ of Messrs. W. Morgan it Co., as traveller. He came home from Wallaroo about a fortnight ago slightly ailing, and soon afterwards fever and congestion of the lungs set in, but no danger was apprehended till within a few days of the time of his death, which occurred on Saturday morning at about 9 o'clock. He leaves a wife and six children to deplore their loss. The mortal remains were conveyed to the West-terrace Cemetery on Sunday after noon, where the funeral service was performed by the Rev. F. W. Cox, in the presence of a large number of friends of the deceased, including his late employer, Mr. W. Morgan, and the deacons of the Hindmarsh-square Congregational Church, with whom the deceased had been worshipping for some time previous to his demise.
