STRANGLED HIMSELF
SUICIDE AT NYNGAN
NYNGAN. Monday.
Joseph Howell, aged about 60 years, brought a tragic ending to his life yesterday, after a long period of bad health. Deceased was a well known Nyngan loco employee and was about to retire from the service after being a lifetime on the job. He had lived in Nvngan for many years.
Yesterday afternoon Howell went into his bedroom, in which was an old fashioned iron bedstead, with hood over it. Later his family heard a groaning noise in the room, and had to force the door open. They were horrified to find their father hanging from a rope which was attached to the iron portion of the bed top. Although released he died shortly after wards, as the result of strangulation.
The funeral of deceased who was a popular figure in the town of Nyngan took place today.6
