NEWELL-HOLLAND.
A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at Ailsa on the 11th April, when Miss Daisy Holland, third daughter of Mrs. W. Holland, of Ailsa, and Mr. Alfred Newell, son of Mr. T. Newell, of Minyip, were joined in the bonds of matrimony. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's mother, the Rev. W. Naismith being the officiating clergyman. As the bride, accompanied by her cousin, Mr. James Wells, who gave her away, entered the parlor, the assembled gathering sang "The voice that breathed o'er Eden." The bride looked charming in a dress of white silk crepe de chene, the bodice being trimmed with lace and large pearls. The long train was lined with shell-pink crepe foam, one corner being caught with a spray of orange blossom, and horse shoes. The usual wreath and veil were worn. The bride carried a prayer book, with white satin streamers. Miss Pearl Holland, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and was attired in pale blue crepe foam, and wore the bridegroom's gift, a circular brooch set with pearls and rubies. Little Maudie Jensen, niece of the bride, was the train-bearer, and wore lace over white voile, and a lace mob cap, and the bridegroom's gift, a gold chain. Mr. Walter Holland, as best man, ably supported the bridegroom. At the conclusion of the ceremony the bridal party left the parlor to the strains of the "Bridal March," played by Mr. Harold Wills. The party sat down to a sumptuous wedding breakfast, during which the usual toasts were proposed. The happy couple then left for Warracknabeal, and caught the afternoon train for Ballarat, where the honeymoon was spent. Many of their friends were at the station to shower confetti and wish them good luck. The bride travelled in a navy blue serge costume, with black velvet hat and plume, and wore the bridegroom's gift, a beautiful set of black fox furs.
