Death* | 24 July 1935 | Hartley, NSW, Australia; MR. EDWARD FIELD HARTLEY VALE PIONEER LIFE OF 81 YEARS (From Our Own Correspondent.) Another old identity of the Hartley district in the person of Mr. Edward Field passed away at the residence of his son, Mr. W. Field, on Wednesday. He died within a mile of his birthplace. About a week ago he celebrated his 81st birthday, living practically all his life in the district. Mrs. Field predeceased him by about five years. A family of four sons and three daughters survive him, and they have received many messages of condolence. In addition there are many grandchildren. The old couple celebrated the golden anniversary of their wedding about six years ago. In his younger days Mr. Field's principal sport was cricket, and as a batsman he gained much distinction. He also was a splendid horseman, training many well-known, competitors, which won first-class races all over the State. The funeral is to take place this afternoon, interment to be made in the Church of England cemetery, Mt. York. Messrs. Matthews and Lemon are in charge of the arrangements.6 |
