OBITUARY
Mrs. Lydia Frances O'Hehir
As briefly reported in last issue, it is with deep regret that we chronicle the death of one of Boorowa's oldest and highly respected residents in the death of Mrs. Lydia Frances O'Hehir, who passed away at her residence, Court Street, early on Thursday morning of last week, at the age of 80 years.
The late Mrs. O'Hehir had been ailing for about six weeks, of which or three weeks she was an inmate of the Boorowa District Hospital. The deceased was able to leave the institution a week previously, but her condition began to fail and she passed peacefully away as stated above.
The late Mrs. O'Hehir, who was formerly Miss Dwyer, was born at Boorowa, being a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Dwyer of Boorowa, and had resided in the district all her life, being one of the town's oldest residents. She had gained a large circle of friends through her kindly nature and happy disposition.
Until late years she was an active worker for her church, where she gave invaluable service in working at bazaars in raising funds.
The deceased married the late Mr. Valentine O'Hehir at St. Patrick's Church, Boorowa, in 1902; her husband predeceased her some 14 years ago.
The late Mrs. O’Hehir leaves three sons, namely Jack and Fred (Springwood) and Harry (Boorowa), and two daughters, Mollie (Mrs. W. Stephens, Warren), and Francie (Mrs. F. G. Craig, Yalbraith).
She is also survived by two brothers, James and Harry (Boorowa) and two sisters, Annie (Mrs. J. Poplin Snr., Brial Road); Ellen (Mrs. D. Lloyd, Drummoyne). One sister, Mary (Mrs. Alf. Reid ) predeceased her several years ago. There are also nine grandchildren.
Following service at St. Patrick's Church on Friday afternoon last, conducted by Rev. Fr. Coffey, the funeral, which was largely attended, took place to the Roman Catholic portion of the Boorowa cemetery where the remains were laid to rest. Rev. Fr. Coffey, assisted by Rev. Frs. Sheehan nd O'Brien officiated at the graveside, and the funeral arrangements were carried out by Patterson Bros.
The pallbearers were Messrs. F. G. Craig, W. Stephens (sons-in-law), F. Dwyer and F. Ryan.
